I am sure you have heard some of the popular blogs have been hacked by someone. When we are having a WordPress blog, we are scared that our blog will be hacked too. Matt Cutts has shared Three Tips to Protect your WordPress Installation.

Secure your /wp-admin/ directory
Make an empty wp-content/plugins/index.html file
Upgrade or apply patches
(Bonus Tips) Delete the line that contains bloginfo(’version’)

I have been thinking about doing a series on how to protect your blog and the host it is running on for people who are self-hosting there wordpress on Linux.

Do you think there are enough bloggers running their own Linux hosts that such a series would be useful ?

Hi Erik,

I think there are small number of bloggers who are running their own Linux hosts. And also, I think there are some bloggers who would like to run their own Linux host but do not know how.

Therefore, the series on how to protect your blog and the host on Linux would be useful for quite a number of people I think.
