I personally feel dotCMS is technically really strong enough to stand against other CMS leaders in the market. Eventhough I have tried Joomla, Alfresco, Drupal also but I like the dotCMS.

If one is looking for a java based CMS, the dotCMS is the way to go. I have downloaded the "dotcms_1.6.5RC5" source from SVN , setup eclipse environment , built & deployed the complete dotCMS application. Its working perfectly well. As I have the codebase, I can easily make modifications. We will use dotCMS for a large project.
dotCMS is much easier to work upon.
I had a brief intro to Joomla! (Not being a PHP developer, I was greatly handicapped to enhance it) . I had a tough time adding just a field to User form. Moreover, free ACLs were not available still then, that meant fine grained controls could not be achieved.

There is a problem with dotCms... There is no place to buy templates. Joomla and similar probably are worst -technicaly- than dotCms, but they have more 'community support'

How would you compare dotCMS to Drupal or Joomla? I'm in the midst of redesigning a 10,000+ page site and right now it's between WP, Drupal and Joomla...but maybe I need to look into dotCMS as well:)

@ Michael Castilla

I think dotCMS is suitable for company site / web application site. WordPress is more suitable for blogging. :)
